...Once upon a time.. In a beautiful forest, lived a little mouse, he was a very sweet little mouse, and a funny little mouse, but...he was a curious little mouse, and he was fascinated by the world. One rainy morning he sat in his room and looked out the window...Outside it was rainy, and grey, and windy outside and he wanted to go outside and play, or swim...and not be stuck inside in house. He decided he was going to brave the stormy day and visit his sweet friend Matilda who lived in a pretty little house at the edge of the forest. She loved to read books, and sometimes on rainy days like this one, Haxley would come over to her house, snuggle up close to her under a colorful quilt as the raindrops tapped on the window...and listen to her read stories about pirates, or secret gardens...she was a wonderful friend who always prepared hot tea, and pink sugar cookies for them to share...he couldn't wait to go visit her again today...he put on his yellow raincoat, and his black rubber boots. He carefully tucked some chocolate wrapped in a heart shaped box in his pocket. It was for Matilda, he knew chocolate was her favorite, and that she would be so excited when he gave it to her...he made his way through the forest, it was muchhhh rainier, and much windier then he had realized...the wind was blowing so hard that the raindrops hurt as they pelted him...there were huge puddles of water in the forest, and his boots were getting stuck in the mud as he walked...but Haxley was determined, he really wanted to see Matilda..He was thinking about sipping on a hot cup of tea with her when suddenly he saw Cheri the white rabbit...she came running out of the forest, she was wet, and cold, and shaking...Haxley could instantly see something was very wrong. The little white rabbit's eyes were filled with tears and her voice was quivering..."Haxley! Omg...please come help me!!..." she cried. "Cheri...tell me, what’s wrong...what can I do?" Haxley asked with great concern. "It’s my house...its flooding from all the rain!!!" she trembled as she spoke. Haxley quickly grabbed her hand. "Let's go Cheri, I will help you.." together they ran through the heavy rain until they reached her house, she lived in a cute little rabbit hole, there was a pretty red door to her underground home...now it had looked more like a big lake of water...Haxley took off his raincoat..."Cheri...we will tie my coat over your rabbit door like a tent, so the rain doesn't fall over it" then Haxley took off his rubber boots.."Cheri take a boot, we will use these as buckets...fill up the boot with the water flooding your home, and pour the water over there by the trees..." They worked for over an hour...filling the boots with water, and spilling the water out...until there was no more water flooding Cheri's house anymore..."Haxley...thank you so much!" she hugged him with gratitude...He hugged her back..."Cheri keep my boots, & raincoat. You may need them if it rains really bad again" She nodded thankfully..."I will return them to you tomorrow..." Haxley was cold, and wet, and barefoot..He decided to go home. Even though he really wanted to see Matilda..he was exhausted...he tried to walk back home quickly, but he was sore...and he was cold...and it was taking him a long time to walk through the forest...the rain was still falling, and the wind was still blowing...finally he reached his little mouse house...as he walked up the path...he saw the door to his house swing opened...and he heard a familiar voice...it was Matilda, she ran over to Haxley and threw her arms around his neck..."Haxley...omg...my sweet little mouse...what happened to you, where are your boots, and your coat?...your soaking wet....omg...Haxley...when you didn’t show up at my house I was so worried I came over here to make sure you’re okay!" Haxley smiled, he loved how sweet Matilda was, and he knew what a wonderful friend she was to him..."Ohhh Matilda I’m okay..." he told her...She put her arm around him and led him into his house..."Ok...how about you take a shower, and I’ll make the tea...then come sit beside me, and I will read you a story from one of my favorite books." she said....As Haxley came over and snuggled up beside her, she began to read..."Once upon a time...." she looked down, and smiled at the little mouse...he was already softly breathing as he slept...she kissed his head, pulled up the blanket around him, and sipped on her hot tea as the rain continued to fall outside...
